Paul Merson Predicts the Score When Man Utd Faces Rival City

Paul Merson says he would be “surprised” if Man Utd win against Man City this weekend.

It will happen Michael Carrick’s first game as coach as interim leader, but wrote in his column for SportskeedaMerson said the Red Devils would not be able to compete with their rivals:

“Usually in a derby the performance just disappears. It’s not the same here because, to be honest, I can’t see anything but a Manchester City win! I would be amazed if Manchester United won.”

“In the last two or three derbies, the games were more even in the sense that we knew Manchester United had chances. I can’t say the same now. Don’t get me wrong, I still think City gave away too many chances. But their attack was just a few miles ahead and would have given United too many chances.”

That Sky Sports the pundit picked up a 3-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s men, which would have been a hugely disappointing result for United fans had the game gone that way.

Carrick will of course face a very difficult first game, but if he can secure a result in the derby – be it a draw or a win – then that could bode well for the future.

City, meanwhile, will be without Savinho (injured), Oscar Bobb (hamstring), Omar Marmoush (AFCON), John Stones (thigh), Ruben Dias (hamstring), Josko Gvardiol (leg fracture) and Mateo Kovacic (ankle).
