That Daily Star claim that the World Cup winner is on the club’s shortlist as they look to strengthen their options in midfield.

Mac Allister’s performance raises questions about his future

The Argentina international has struggled to replicate the performances that helped Liverpool secure the Premier League title last season.

This has sparked some speculation as to whether he will stay at Anfield long-term, although it must be said that most rumors of his departure link him with a move to Spain.

That Daily Star report that to have any chance of signing Mac Allister, United must still qualify for the Champions League.

Man Utd has several other midfield targets

Many supporters considered Mac Allister’s approach unrealistic. However, the Red Devils are considering a number of other options ahead of the summer.

Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson has been widely reported as United’s top target, but his £100m+ price tag and interest from rivals Manchester City may make a deal hard to come by.
