Manchester United are “very interested” in signing Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The Portugal international is yet to sign a new contract even though his current contract has reached the final 18 months.

United are believed to be closely monitoring Mendes’ situation and most X fans think he would be a great addition to the squad:

Mendes has the same agent as Amorim

One of the reasons the Red Devils have taken such a keen interest in the defender is because of head coach Ruben Amorim.

The Manchester United boss and Mendes are contracted to the same agency so the Red Devils are very wary of the player’s current predicament.

Strengthening the wing sector is the key to United’s success

Amorim doesn’t actually have any specialists fullback in the first team squad so the main priority for the next few transfer windows will be to add options on both flanks.

The left side is the most urgent need. Diogo Dalot is currently playing there, with Luke Shaw injured, and he is struggling to fill that role.

Mendes will greatly strengthen the squad if the Red Devils manage to secure his services. Alternatives such as AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies are being sought but it appears the PSG defender is also among the club’s targets.
