Paul Merson Predicts the Result When Amorim Faces Ipswich in His First Match as United Coach

Paul Merson hopes Ruben Amorim can win in his first match as Manchester United coach this weekend.

Red Devil facing Ipswich Town who are threatened with relegation and, wrote in his Sportskeeda column, Merson said that he thought the visitors would come out on top at Portman Road:

“It’s a great first game to be a coach if you’re Ruben Amorim, but it’s also a dangerous game and I’ll tell you why. Manchester United must not lose this match, it would be a huge disaster. But if they win, people will say, ‘it’s only Ipswich, of course you have to win’.”

“This is of course a difficult game for United. I’m rooting for them to win, but I don’t think it will be easy. Amorim wants to play with a back three, this was a good game to test him. Although I feel United will win against Ipswich, I have a bad feeling about this match.”

That Sky Sports Pundits believe United will secure a narrow 2-1 win on Sunday, which is a scoreline that will please supporters.

Ipswich have caused problems against more fancied opponents. It should not be forgotten that they beat Tottenham away from home before the international break so Amorim will feel that any win is a good result.

Leny Yoro looks set to be included in the matchday squad for the first time, having been withdrawn from the Under-21 squad to face Altrincham earlier this week.

Kobbie Mainoo is also back fit and available. The midfielder has been absent since the draw against Aston Villa last month.
