Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is on the Manchester United striker’s target list, according to Athletics.
The website claims that Red Devils scouts have “noted” the 21-year-old’s impact since his £20m move from Manchester City in the summer.
Delap is also being watched by Chelsea, while his former club City are believed to have a buy-back clause for the player.
This effectively gives the Premier League champions control over whether to re-sign him, but there is currently no indication that he will be brought back to the Etihad.
Delap is not the only striker being considered
As well as England U-21 internationals, Athletics reports that RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko remains on the club’s radar. The Slovenia international has been under scrutiny for several years and United could sign him at the end of the season if he is available.
However, it is also worth noting that Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in acquiring his services. The two tried and failed to buy him while his release clause was still active in June.
Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres is another name on the list, mainly due to his past association with Ruben Amorim, but it remains to be seen how serious his interest is.
United are considering whether to sell another forward
One of the reasons why the club is exploring the market for a new number 9 is because of Joshua Zirkzee’s situation. Despite only signing him from Bologna for £36.5m a few months ago, a sale at the end of the season is not out of the question.
The Dutch player didn’t even come off the bench United’s 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night. It will be interesting to see if Amorim gives him a few minutes against Everton Today.
