Manchester United are eyeing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.
Write on his Daily Briefing column, Falk said that both strikers are on the Manchester club’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window:
“I’ve heard Manchester United are also interested in him [Sane’s] door. Many people thought he would not return to Manchester, but United was a very serious option for him.”
“However, I think first he wants to show that he can do it at Bayern Munich. Bayern, for their part, don’t want to pay him another €20 million… The Red Devils are also interested in another Bayern Munich target in Benjamin Sesko (so you see [Bundesliga] the club always competes with the Premier League).”
What’s the situation with Sane?
The Germany international’s contract expires at the end of the season and he is reportedly unwilling to accept a 25% pay cut, which opens the door for the Red Devils to sign him on a free transfer. As mentioned by Falk, he currently earns €20 million per year (around £384,000 per week).
However, there will likely be competition from Arsenal and (potentially) Newcastle for the former Manchester City man if he decides to leave the Allianz Arena.
United have long been interested in Sesko
Red Devil initially targeted Slovenian striker when he was at Red Bull Salzburg but he chose to join Leipzig at the start of last season.
Sesko was also targeted by Arsenal and Chelsea last June. Both London clubs were willing to pay his €65m (£55m) release clause, but he decided to stay in Germany and sign a new contract. It is not known whether he is now open to a move to the Premier League.
